Police complaint and compensation papers for hit and run victims in India

Grievance officer

Who to write to

Vidur Saini, Grievance officer
grievance@hitandrun.report

Write in English or Hindi. If your complaint is about a particular report, include your report link so we can find it. Do not send us passwords or bank details.

What we do, and when

  • We acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours.
  • We resolve it within 15 days. Both timelines come from rule 3(2) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021.
  • A request to take down content about a person impersonating someone, or about a private image, is acted on within 24 hours.
  • A valid order from a court or a government agency is acted on within 36 hours.

Your rights over your data

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you and who we shared it with,
  • correct or complete anything that is wrong,
  • erase it, which the delete button on your report page does at once,
  • nominate someone to exercise these rights if you cannot.

We hold no photos and no video, only the fingerprints your browser worked out, so there is nothing of that kind for us to hand over or destroy.

If we do not fix it

You can take a data protection complaint to the Data Protection Board of India, and a content complaint to the Grievance Appellate Committee set up under rule 3A of the 2021 rules. Tell us first, because most of this is a misunderstanding we can sort out in a day.
